One of the keys to a healthy lifestyle is getting plenty of dark leafy greens in your diet. Green smoothies are a simple, convenient way to do that. This recipe is delicious, easy to prepare. It’s also gluten free, dairy free, and plant-based.

WHY IT’S GOOD FOR YOU

SPINACH – A dark leafy green staple with tons of vitamins and minerals
HEMP SEEDS – A complete, easy-to-digest, plant-based protein
AVOCADOS – Healthy fats, alkaline, and needed to absorb fat-soluble nutrients
APPLE + LEMON – Low glycemic fruits that won’t spike your blood sugar. They also add plenty of antioxidants for disease prevention.

Try having this for breakfast or as an afternoon snack a few times every week!

ULTIMATE GREEN SMOOTHIE

Time: 5 minutes
Serves 1 person

INGREDIENTS: Use organic whenever possible

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 big handful of baby spinach
  • ¼ avocado
  • 3 tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 1 medium apple, chopped
  • ½ lemon, peeled
  • 1 cup filtered water

DIRECTIONS:
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and gradually blend from low speed to high speed for about 30 seconds. Then blend on high for another 30 seconds to get a smooth consistency. If you want a sweeter smoothie, you can swap the apple for ½ a banana. Serve cold immediately. Enjoy!
