Summer Glow Green Smoothie

Summer Glow Green Smoothie

Summer Glow Green Smoothie

When the sun is shining, you want to be healthy and shiny right along with it.

HAVING A GREEN SMOOTHIE EVERY DAY IS ONE OF THE EASIEST WAYS TO STAY HEALTHY.

But this green smoothie in particular is great for making your skin glow! I KNOW you ladies want some of that, but men don’t be shy…this can benefit you, too.

Now, some of you may still not be with me on the green drinks. Do me a favor, just try this one out. It truly is delicious.

3 Things In This Smoothie That Do Wonders For Your Skin:

  • FIBER:  Fiber rids the body of toxins and carries away excess fats. Build up of both of these can cause breakouts and blemishes. Chia seeds and pineapple both contribute to the high fiber content.

  • ANTIOXIDANTS: We need antioxidants to kill free radicals in the skin (and body) that can cause aging. Pineapple offers an abundance of Vitamin C. Spinach has plenty of Vitamin A. Coconut oil has two powerful antioxidants: ferulic acid and p-coumaric acid, but must be virgin (unrefined).

  • GOOD FATS: Coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids. The skin uses those to nourish, heal and maintain itself. Chia seeds offer Omega-3 fatty acids, which help keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from drying and flaking.

Besides all the health benefits and glowing-skin enhancers, this smoothie is refreshing, sweet and cooling. Perfect on a hot summer day.

SUMMER GLOW GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE

Makes 1 large serving

INGREDIENTS: Use organic whenever possible

  • 8 ounces coconut water (or filtered water)

  • 1 teaspoon organic virgin coconut oil (very important to buy virgin/unrefined!)

  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds

  • 3 handfuls spinach

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple

  • optional: add ½ banana for more sweetness, if desired

DIRECTIONS:

Wash spinach well before using. Add all ingredients into your blender in the order listed. Add more filtered water at the end if you like your smoothies less thick (like I do). Start blending on low and work your way up to the highest setting. Then blend for an additional 30-45 seconds.

Best enjoyed right after blending, although you can store in the refrigerator in an airtight glass container for up to 12 hours.

Feel free to experiment with the ingredients and amounts. The best part about smoothies is playing with the recipe to find EXACTLY what you like.
